Loving Life!

August 6, 2011  |  Blog, My Blog, Uncategorized  |  No Comments

What a fun week it’s been! In this new season I’m attemping to blog more frequently and share more of what’s going on behind the ”scenes”. I love writing and really miss it. I can sometimes be a bit random on the grammer but it’s more about the content that I’m worried about then being perfect. Perfectionism is merely a mirage so I’m just going to let it go now :)

Today I had the lovely opportunity to do an engagement shoot with a friend and a colleauge from St. Paul’s Church. I love engagement shoots because it gives you a greater opportunity to get to know the couple and see their ”real” personalities come out behind the lens. Usually people are pretty nervous the first 10 minutes but once they realise it’s easy they just let go. The spot we chose today (Richmond) a long side the river is one of my most favourite places in England. Most of my portfolio was built along the river back in the day so I feel like I know it really well-it’s quirks, it’s faults, it’s beauty and the ”hot” spots. Toby and I were looking at old shoots last night and laughing and realising how far I’ve come. I’m super humble, but just sooo blessed by this talent and ability that God has given me. Photography can sometimes be scary because it is an expression of art and interpretation. I love capturing real moments…. just makes me smile thinking about it!

Life is keeping us busy. Just booked a few more weddings for 2012 and trying to think of holidays for the new year. Any suggestions please pass them along. Since Toby has a Greek heritage I’d love to go there someday. Maybe I’ll do a wedding there some day… Would love that!!

On a fun note, I just finished Steven and Sunny’s wedding! I did their wedding when I was home in Seattle a few week’s ago. You’ve never met a couple so in love. What I loved about their wedding was that they were soooo laid back and wanted to make sure everyone was having a great time and enjoying the mood of the day. They also chose to do their photos before the wedding ceremony so that we could spend a good amount of time but also so they could transition into their reception without having to hold everything up with photos.

The next week few weeks are looking pretty busy so I’m enjoying this 3 day weekend of being at home, editing while drinking a glass of wine, sitting next to Toby in our joint office and resting in the calm in the storm. We have a wedding coming up, a family shoot and a few misc. shoots for people’s websites. We also leave for Italy in two weeks for our last summer holiday. EEEKKK sooo excited to be back in Italy as we were there earlier this year shooting a wedding. We are their for pleasure, but will definitely post a few pictures.

I’ll leave you with this last picture taken from my iphone…. Happy Hour today with my hubby :) I joke that I should change my profession to being a chef because I love cooking and entertaining soo much.

Have a fab weekend!!

Hany from Syria

Hany from Syria

My brother-in-law Josh has been hosting one of his best friends from Syria for the past 17 days. After having the two of them over a Mexican meal, Hany asked if I would take some professional photos of him. He is here for a project management conference and back home works for the UN and is visiting the UK for the first time. We took these through out East Sheen and in Richmond park. I think we had the most gorgeous weather! Enjoy!

Can I just say, “I can’t believe it’s Oct. and Christmas is around the corner!” What I love about the fall is the leaves and the crispness of the air. Over weekend I had a chance to shoot a very beautiful couple and I told them I wanted to incorporate leaves into their shoot. We got really lucky to find the deep red ones, which are my absolute favourite! It always fascinates me that the leaves know when to change colour and then to fall off. The process in which the leaves die is so beautiful.

On a more random note, I’ve really been enjoying life. At the moment, we’re hosting a good friend from the states and her and I had an amazing meal tonight at our local Persian restaurant- one of my favs! It was so lovely catching up with an American friend, spending 4 hours in the place and watching the staff stare at us because they didn’t know when to bring our bill. I think we drank about 5 glasses of ice water each. It was just so fun to talk about our lives, our joys and our struggles. I wish more people could be more open about their life to see that we all struggle and usually with similar things. I was super blessed by her company.

I would encourage my readers to live life to the fullest… enjoy long meals with close friends, be excited when the leaves change colour, love extravagantly and pursue the things you love, even if you think you don’t have time for. Life is just too short to let it go by so quickly you missed all the special little moments that were so meaningful.

Esperanza Trust for Argentina Strawberries & Cream Event

I had the lovely opportunity to get to photograph another event for the Esperanza Trust for Argentina. The event was planned and coordinated by Jennie Guy, along with other members of the trust. We were very grateful to TEAPIGS, as well as Rodda’s Cornish Clotted Cream Co. for donating their amazing products to help make the day even more amazing. What a great event and enjoy the pictures!

Pink Fizz, friendship & Tennis

July 5, 2010  |  Blog, My Blog, Uncategorized  |  No Comments

Wow, Friday was one of my most favourite days while living in England the last year and a half. Myself, along with my friends Beth, Ellie and Lizzy stood in line from 7am to grab Murray Hill tickets to watch the game between Nadal and Murray. Prior to this event, I had never really been “into” Tennis, but it sure is amazing how one game and one day later your attention can be drastically changed. Prior to entering the gates, the four of us were interviewed for BBC Radio 5 Live about who we were supporting. After being embarrassed by the presenter, I knew I needed to polish my sport’s knowledge.

(Lizzy, Beth, Ellie & me)

I really enjoyed the day because I spent it with 3 amazing women whom I’m so lucky to have befriended. Each of us brought different aspects to the day including different things to contribute to a luxury picnic on the hill. It was just a fun and perfect day with no complaints- except I think everyone was bummed that Murray didn’t win. Well… I still don’t fully understand Tennis, but.. I now love to watch the game and enjoyed the spirit of the crowd.

A Day Never forgotten….

My friend Ellie was thrilled to get her picture near Murray, I was happy to capture it for her!!
